Critical Thinking - Class Debate
-Participated in a debate in my Sociology of Race and Ethics course
-Had to prepare extensive material and research the topic weeks in advance
-Debate topic was if schools in the U.S. should continue to implement a bilingual class option
-Personal view of this topic was that schools should have bilingual class options, but was placed on the side that disagrees with this view by the professor
-Had to come up with an argument that supported my assigned stance for the debate, despite my personal views
-Critical thinking was involved in every aspect, from drafting the debate outline, to writing the proposal, and then verbally debating the topic, even though I was placed on a side I did not agree with
-Learned to think outside of the box in a critical and logic sense, and how to step into the role of the opposite side
